My Festive Comic Strip

A special newsletter with a Christmas theme, because I don't think my headliner will really work in the New Year!

Null Space: A Serious House on Serious Earth

The great comics artist P.J. Holden is creating Null Space, a series of one-page comic strips with a whole range of writers, and he accepted a script from me. So here’s my effort, on a Christmas theme, one of the most specifically theist pieces I’ve ever written. (Which makes me somewhat nervous of releasing it.) I hope you enjoy it.

Stuff That’s Going On

So, hey, Thomas won the all-school Times Table Rock Stars contest for the third time in a row. He couldn’t face going up onstage to collect the trophy though, given all the noise, and kind of broke down at that point, but his tears soon turned to pride in his achievement and he’s been having a great holiday. Much Lego for Christmas!

I wanted to say something about the situation with Substack being willing to platform actual Nazis. I’m not happy with that, and I intend to drop my paying subscription level as soon as possible. Given that many people have already paid for a whole year, though, I feel ‘as soon as possible’ is when those subscribers have got what they paid for. So the forthcoming new Lychford novella in serial form, Fantasy Cricket, which starts on 4th January, will be the last paid-subscribers-only project, and when those yearly subscriptions end in early June I’ll be making sure nobody renews, and at that point I’ll consider my options in terms of moving services.

I hope you’re all having a joyful and peaceful holiday season, whatever your tradition, and from my own, Merry Christmas!

I hope to see you all on 5th January.
